Meanwhile, CAF has reaffirmed that Morocco remains the designated host of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to kick off on March 17.
Earlier this month, South Africa’s deputy sports minister indicated that her country was ready to step in as host. However, Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie later clarified that Morocco remains the officially approved venue.
Motsepe confirmed that discussions with Morocco are ongoing but stressed that the tournament dates cannot be altered.

“Some other countries said, ‘Please can we host it?’ but they want to change the date,” he said.
“We can’t change the date because it is a qualifier for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. The WAFCON continues and it will be successful. It has to take place within that window.”
CAF maintains that preparations for the tournament remain on course.
