The organization of Tiv people living in United Kingdom called, Mzough U Tiv United Kingdom, (MUTUK), has condemned the disparaging statement credited to one Venita Akpofure about the Tiv people on the reality television show Big Brother Naija in which she peddled falsehood against the tribe.
The association made the condemnation in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Nadoo Jomboh, on behalf of the Executive Committee.
Venita, one of the housemates on the reality show, in the said video which circulated on the social media, said that part of the Tiv man’s culture was to hand over his wife to guests for their pleasure.
MUTUK which expressed reservations on the statement called on Venita to come out and tender an unreserved apology for her denigrating comments to the Tiv people.
The organisation enjoined MultiChoice Nigeria, the organizers of Big Brother Naija reality TV show, to take immediate and decisive action against Venita Akpofure and her disparaging statement and also compel her to issue an apology to the Tiv tribe.
