The Vice-Chancellor of Vision University, Ikogbo, Ogun State, Prof. Olatunji Oyelana, has warned new students to shun drug abuse and cultism or face expulsion.

He gave the warning while addressing about 900 students at the university’s third matriculation ceremony.

Oyelana said the institution maintains zero tolerance for drug abuse, cultism, and other offences capable of tarnishing its image.

He noted that some students had previously been suspended or expelled for violating university rules, particularly for involvement in violent offences.

Urging the matriculants to remain focused, he stressed that their choices would shape their future.

“Your induction into Vision University will shape your career trajectory, depending on the quality of effort you invest in your academic foundation,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the university’s academic programmes have undergone resource verification and approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC), with re-accreditation scheduled for late 2026.

He added that the institution’s Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, and Public Health programmes have received recognition from relevant professional bodies.

Oyelana also noted that the university has established partnerships with tertiary and secondary health facilities for clinical training.

He further revealed plans to reapply for approval to commence a Law programme and announced additional hostel facilities donated by the founder, Mrs Ngozi Okafor.

In her goodwill message, Okafor urged students to uphold good character alongside academic excellence, stressing that character plays a crucial role in determining success.
