Vice Chancellor, Plateau State University, Bokkos, Prof. Yohanna Izam has charged the newly recruited Staff of the Institution to be diligent, hardworking and instrumental in growing and impacting on the legacy of the University by deploying their intellectual, creative and productive abilities in pushing the University to greatness.
Prof. Izam who stated this while declaring open a two day orientation workshop for the staff in the University said the past four years of his administration has been tailored towards the improvement and development of new faculties and infrastructure that will help drive the vision of the founding fathers by building a virile and knowledge based institution.
He expressed gratitude to the Proprietor and Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong for giving the University the approval to employ more staff that will pioneer the process of the new faculties that are in the offing, discribing Lalong as a child of history who has been part of the establishment of the University at inception when he was Speaker and presently that he is Governor and Proprietor of the University.
He applauded the Governor for facilitating the accreditation of 19 programmes of the University from two programmes when he took over the mantle of leadership in addition to hosting two combined Convocation ceremonies.
He also used the occasion to commend successive Governing Councils of the University and Managements for the unity of purpose enjoyed which has resulted in the successes so far recorded.
Speaking earlier, Registrar of the University, Yakubu Ayuba congratulated the newly employed staff saying they came at a critical moment of massive development that the University has never experienced before.
According to the Registrar, the Vice Chancellor initiated fourtenn projects since he took over in 2018 out of which six have been completed while others are at 70% completion.
He told the newly employed staff that the purpose of the programme was to welcome them into the Plateau State University family and to prepare them mentally and physically to take up their new appointments and to also acquint them with their new environment which has now become their second home.
