Uzoka-Anite leads Southeast business leaders on visit to Sanwo-Olu

The Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, over the weekend, led a delegation of prominent Southeast business leaders on a courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as part of the efforts to deepen collaboration between the Federal Government and private sector stakeholders to boost economic growth. 

A statement issued by the ministry’s Spokesperson, Mohammed Manga, quoted the Minister as commending Governor Sanwo-Olu for his visionary leadership and the remarkable progress Lagos had achieved under his administration.

The Minister lauded Lagos for its strong partnership with the Federal Government through pragmatic reforms and collaboration on key national initiatives such as the Lagos Green Line Metro Rail Project. She explained that the visit was in line with the presidential directive for ministers to engage key stakeholders across sectors to foster economic development and strengthen private sector participation.

Uzoka-Anite also used the opportunity to brief the Governor on a new initiative tagged the Government and Private Sector (GPS) Dialogue Series, designed to create a platform for continuous engagement between policymakers and business leaders.

“It’s always a pleasure to be in Lagos, a city that truly never sleeps, and one that continues to lead the way in innovation, enterprise, and economic growth.

“Your Excellency, you have demonstrated that when the Federal and State Governments work together, progress is both achievable and sustainable. The idea behind the GPS Dialogue is simple but powerful, to create a regular, open space where government officials and private sector leaders can sit together, share perspectives, and design practical solutions to the challenges and opportunities before us,” she said.

She reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to empowering small and medium-sized enterprises, broadening access to finance, and strengthening collaboration with state governments to implement reforms that enable businesses to thrive. “Together, we share a common vision, to build a Nigeria where enterprise is encouraged, innovation is rewarded, and prosperity is within the reach of every hardworking citizen,” the Minister emphasised.

In his response, Sanwo-Olu pledged Lagos State’s continued partnership with the Federal Government, captains of industry, and other stakeholders to improve the lives of Nigerians. He thanked the Minister for choosing Lagos to host the maiden edition of the GPS Dialogue, reiterating his administration’s commitment to promoting equity, justice, and opportunity for all Nigerians.
