Governor Hope Uzodimma is set to host the 15th Emeka Anyaoku lecture in Owerri, Imo state on Thursday, April 9, with the theme, ‘Imperative of Good Governance in Nigeria.’
Chief Emeka Anyaoku’s annual distinguished lecture, also known as the Anyaoku Lecture Series, is a prominent Nigerian public policy forum focused on governance, leadership and national development.
The event brings together politicians, academics, diplomats and civil society actors to stimulate debate on good governance in Nigeria.
A statement by Johnson Ogbonna, stated that the lecture series would be held in Owerri, Imo State.
Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha, Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University is the keynote speaker, while the chairman of the occasion would be senator Jim Nwobodo.

The lecture series typically revolves around themes such as ‘Democracy and Constitutional Reforms, Leadership and Accountability and National Unity, as well as Restructuring Economic and Institutional Development.’
The event is held in honour of Chief Emeka Anyaoku, a respected international elder statesman and former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations. It is open to all members of the public and students of high institutions.
Dignitaries and speakers that have attended the lecture in the past were General Yakubu Gowon, Chief John Oyegun, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Donald Duke, Professor Barth Nnaji, Professor Anya O. Anya and Professor Kingsley Moghalu.
Others are Professor Eghosa Osaghae, Professor Dora Akunyili, Professor Pat Utomi, Professor Joseph Ajienka, Professor Ayo Olukotun, Professor Hope Eghagha, Dr. Reuben Abati, Senator Ben Bruce and Senator Ben Obi.
The previous lectures in the series had been hosted by the Governors of Lagos, Anambra, Delta, Ogun, Edo, Abia, Ebonyi, Imo, Oyo, Rivers and Akwa Ibom, among others.
