Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has commended security agencies for rescuing the 20 corps members abducted in the state.
The corps members, who were on their way to NYSC orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom States from Ibadan, Oyo State, were attacked near Umunoha in Mbaitoli Local Government Area on October 1.
Their abductors initially demanded N1 billion ransom before reducing it to N100 million.
They were rescued on Wednesday from Amakohia-Ubi forest in Owerri West Local Government Area following a coordinated operation involving security agencies.
The victims are currently at the Department of State Services (DSS) Hospital in Owerri, where they are receiving medical attention.

In a statement he personally signed on Wednesday, Governor Uzodimma expressed satisfaction with the rescue and lauded the discreet and collaborative efforts of the security agencies.
He also commended the collaborative efforts of the Oyo and Imo State governments towards securing their release.
The governor said government was cautious about releasing too much information to the public because the lives of the corps members were involved, hence the discreet handling of the matter.
