The United States embassy on Thursday issued a travel alert, warning Americans of armed robberies, petty crime and carjackings in Chad’s capital of N’Djamena.

“Several U.S. citizens have been injured in these robberies, which involved weapons such as knives and firearms,” the alert stated.

Attacks are taking place near restaurants, hotels and popular establishments that cater to foreign expatriates, the notice said.

The embassy urged Americans to remain vigilant, avoid large crowds, and to take personal safety precautions at all times, especially when frequenting popular establishments. (Sputnik/NAN)
