US alerts citizens of planned attacks on facilities in Nigeria

The United States Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria has alerted United States nationals of a possible attack on United States facilities in Nigeria.

The United States Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria made the disclosure in a security alert titled “Threat to U.S. Facilities and Schools.”

“The Embassy recommends that U.S. citizens take additional precautions when traveling to the U.S. Embassy, the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, and U.S. affiliated schools, to include varying times and routes,” the United States Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria said.

The United States Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria further  said  increasing awareness of their surroundings, avoiding predictable routines, and reviewing general security precautions with their families  can help reduce their risk.

Actions to take include: “Be aware of your surroundings.

“Keep a low profile.

“Review your personal security plans.

“Vary your regular routes.

“Keep your cell phone charged in case of emergency.

“Stay alert in public places.

“Avoid crowds and demonstrations.

“Familiarize yourself with emergency exits when entering buildings.”
