Students, academic and non-academic staff and campus residents benefited from free, healthcare services at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, Lagos, during the FastCare Medical Outreach.
The health intervention, was designed to address immediate medical needs, ease the financial burden of healthcare, and promote proactive wellness within the busy university community.
The initiative was organized by FastCare. Through the outreach, HealthStation demonstrated its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility, community development and accessible healthcare by bringing vital medical services directly to the campus ecosystem.
The venue was filled with eager students and staff members of the university looking to take advantage of the comprehensive services. Attendees received top-tier medical attention entirely free of cost. The outreach centred on crucial preventive care, featuring specialized blood pressure tests to screen for hypertension and rapid diagnostic malaria tests, a vital intervention given the high prevalence of malaria in the country.
Following their screening, every participant sat down for a private, professional doctor’s consultation. Certified doctors reviewed the test results, answered pressing health questions, provided expert medical advice and created personalized care plans for attendees, including free malaria medication for those who tested positive for malaria parasites.

A fully stocked on-site pharmacy dispensed essential prescribed medications to participants immediately following their consultations, ensuring that no patient left empty-handed or without a clear treatment path.
CEO, HealthStation, Kelechi Uloh, noted that the initiative was born out of a clear necessity. The rigorous academic environment of a top-tier institution like UNILAG often leaves both students and staff with very little time or financial flexibility to prioritize their personal well-being. By positioning FastCare directly on campus, HealthStation aimed to break down barriers of cost and distance, encouraging early detection of potentially serious health conditions and treating acute illnesses like malaria before they escalate.
Beneficiaries were also introduced to the FastCare App, which addresses the growing trend of self-medication and the abuse of herbal remedies. It promotes proper doctor-patient interaction while enabling follow-up consultations, recovery monitoring, and emergency services.
“At HealthStation, we believe that premium health tracking and medical care should not be a luxury,” a company spokesperson stated during the event. “Through FastCare, we are combining medical expertise with community outreach to catch health risks early. Seeing hundreds of UNILAG community members leave here healthier and more informed proves that these interventions are deeply necessary.”
The event attracted massive turnout and received praise from the university’s leadership, student union representatives and campus medical bodies. Faculty leaders commended FastCare and HealthStation for delivering a seamless, highly organized and impactful health programme that directly improved the welfare of the UNILAG community without disrupting the academic calendar.
Beneficiaries also expressed gratitude for the efficiency and empathy shown by the visiting medical team. Many students noted that the free malaria testing and medication saved them significant out-of-pocket expenses, while staff members appreciated the convenience of receiving thorough blood pressure screenings and speaking with a doctor close to their workplaces.
