Said he:  “Bionomics approached us with what they would do at a time that we were considering how to better secure the university community.  We were pleased with their proposal and gave them the go ahead.

“What we have today is the outcome of that collaboration.  It is a testament to what is possible when the Town and Gown come together to proffer solution.’’

The Managing Director of Bionomics Nigeria Ltd, Mr. Onyedika Ugochukwu, expressed gratitude to the VC and the university management team for their belief in the ability of his company to deliver.

‘’On account of this partnership, we will deploy 1,000 chose circuit TV (CCTV) cameras across the three campuses of the university.  This way   of the space in the university will be a dark spot.”

Ugochukwu said with over 60,000 students, who are engaged, in regular   ICT activities, the opportunity presents a huge market for brands to target and reach out to the students.

“Some of the cameras will be hidden. We will not put cameras in the hostels.  We will have the cameras in around the fences.  All the dark spots in UNILAG will be monitored.

“We look forward to extending this to other universities in the country and states.  We are interested in a safer country.  We have our CCTV cameras in some institutions and some states.

“At Bionomics, our belief is that security provision in the country must be anchored on technology, driven by a system that is competent, reliable and not susceptible to compromise, he stated.
