The University of Calabar has made a spiritual dedication of the 2022/2023 second academic semester with a solemn assembly at the International Conference Centre.

The prayer session which attracted a full auditorium was attended by administrators, staff, students and former students of the institution with a cross section of Roman Catholic fathers and Pentecostal clergy.

The guest preacher and old boy of the institution who is also the presiding bishop of Christian Central Chapel, Calabar, Bishop (Dr) Emmah Gospel Isong who gave the homily expressed appreciation at the massive growth of the institution from when he had come in as an undergraduate student in 1983 to its present state.

Preaching under the theme: YAHWEH REIGNS SUPREME, Bishop Isong admonished the flock to appropriate the gift of salvation without waiting until they are in tribulation or diagnosed with dangerous diseases before running to God.

Bishop Isong recalled a year in the university when he was still a student that nine students died and prayed that no one was going to die or be fatally afflicted in the institution throughout the coming semester.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Angela Oyo-Ita took the first reading, while the representative of the Registrar rendered the second reading. Revend Father Orok Duke was the chief celebrant.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Florence Obi had earlier made her opening comments in which she welcomed staff and students back from holidays and implored all to join hands with her to return the university to an institution that all will be proud of.
