The Rotaract Club of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC), will hold its 42nd investiture and fundraising ceremony on January 24, 2026.
Themed, Itan wa (Our Story), the event marks the first time a President from the West, Akinnola Oluwafeyisemiire and his Royal Board of Directors will take centre stage.
While the storytelling theme has attracted widespread attention, organisers said the stakes behind the scenes are far higher. The event is designed to serve as the launchpad for a large intervention fund aimed at addressing urgent welfare issues within the university.
According to the organisers, the ceremony is the primary vehicle for financing the club’s humanitarian plans, including providing free medical checks for more than 700 students and driving a comprehensive sanitation overhaul across the campus, tagged, ‘Operation Keep UNEC Clean.’
Speaking about the event Akinnola said: “Our story isn’t just about the past, but what we are willing to give today. We want to write a bold chapter where every student feels the genuine impact of service.”
The need for the project was reinforced by the club’s Treasurer, Ruth James, who linked students’ welfare directly to the environment. “We cannot write a good story in a dirty environment. Every Naira raised goes back into making students’ lives bearable,” she said.
The installation chairperson, Ella Amusuo, also urged the public to look beyond the celebration, saying, “We are bringing everyone together to fund a vision that makes our campus healthier.”
