UN summit planned protest: APC USA members caution party’s faction, Obidient loyalists against attack on Tinubu

From Romanus Ugwu, Abuja
Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) United States of America (USA) chapter, have warned factional members of the ruling party and Obidient loyalists on planned protest against President Bola Tinubu during his proposed visit for the United Nations Congress.
Chairman of APC USA, Tai Balofin, who raised the alarm in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Abuja, equally issued a stern warning to those considering disrupting any sideline events or the visit of President Tinubu.
He warned that any individual who violates the law will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the legal framework.
Titled statement regarding planned rally during President Tinubu’s visit to the United Nations, the statement read: “It has recently come to our attention that certain individuals are planning to stage a rally during President Tinubu’s visit.”
“This planned rally is a direct response to a gathering planned by a suspended individual, who claims to be the National Chairman of the APC on September 20th 2023.
“The repercussions of the rally have given rise to concerns of potential disruption and chaos from the Obidients who plan to put the reputation of the president into disparage,” it noted.
Reminding the intending protesters of the veracity of their action, the APC USA members wrote that; “in light of this situation, we wish to inform the public and all concerned parties that we have taken swift action to notify the appropriate authorities regarding this unnecessary and potentially disruptive plan.
“The Chairman of APC USA has issued a stern warning to those considering disrupting any sideline events or the visit of President Tinubu. He emphasised that any individuals who violate the law will face arrest and prosecution to the fullest extent of the legal framework.
“We fully recognize and respect the principles of freedom of speech and freedom of association, which are fundamental to a democratic society. However, we urge all citizens to exercise these rights responsibly and in a manner that does not tarnish the reputation of our President.
“It is important to remember that the election results and legal proceedings have been settled, and it is time to accept the outcome gracefully. Another opportunity for political participation will arise in the upcoming 2027 elections, and individuals are encouraged to participate through legitimate means.
“We call for calm, civility, and respect for the rule of law during President Tinubu’s visit to the United Nations. Let us work together to ensure a peaceful and productive engagement on the global stage,” the party members cautioned in the statement.
