UN, FG, Borno govt hold summit on food production

The United Nations, Federal Ministry of Finance and Borno State government have organized a two day workshop on national food production.

Borno governor, Babagana Zulum in his address said there was a link between food transformation and social problem.

“There is direct link between food transformation and the social problems of hunger, poverty, healthcare, insecurity and unemployment,” he disclosed.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Prof Hussaini Marte, the governor said the poor,, vulnerable women and children suffer most in crisis period

He said the sensitization workshop will provide the participants opportunity to key into the state government’s 10 year strategic plan and 25 year Development Plan.”

He said this workshop will also provide a means of improving the method of farming through mechanized farming.

Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National planning, Mrs Olusola Idowu said similar workshops were held in parts of the country early June.

The workshop was attended by participants from Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
