A Lagos-based National Youth Service Corper, Umoh Veronica, has organized medical eye screening exercise for indigents in Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos.

The two-day exercise which ends today is in collaboration with Legal Anchorage and Hephzibah Eye Care would provide its beneficiaries with comprehensive eye health screening that can help to identify any problems and provide treatment at an early stage.

With the theme “Early Detection: for Preventable Blindness and Visual Impairment,” exercise aim to provide other benefits including free Ocular/general health talk, distribution of free drugs, eye drops and reading glasses where necessary as well as free blood pressure checks.

According Umoh, the free medical service would serve as a personal community development project and a way of giving back to the society.

“The free eye medical exercise was organized as part of my zeal to give back to the community particularly the less privileged ones in the society who has no one to care for them and to educate the public on the importance of good eye care,” she explained.
