The Minister of Works, Nweze David Umahi has mourned the tragic death of the CEO of Access Holdings Plc, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, his wife Mrs. Chizoba Wigwe and son Chizi Wigwe, as well as the former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group) Otunba Abimbola Ogunbanjo who passed away in a fatal helicopter crash on February 9, 2024.
In a release he entitled “Re: Painful death of Dr Herbert Wigwe and three others who passed away in a helicopter mishap,” Umahi said he received news of the shocking deaths with “deepest sympathy and sadness.”
“I am stunned by this unthinkable tragedy, which is most undesirable to be considered a possibility. It is indeed a dark moment for the nation and for the professional community where they worked devotedly in their service to humanity.
“We have lost invaluable assets who laid a solid foundation of trust and expertise in the investment industry. The private and the public sectors shall miss them dearly. At this moment of grief, I heartily commit all their loved ones to the gracious solace of God who alone is Almighty as I pray for God to grant eternal repose to the souls departed. May their gentle souls rest in perfect peace, Amen!”
Minister Umahi noted that his “heartiest compassions and best wishes are with the children and the aged parents. May the fond memories of the professional excellence of the departed souls and their dreams and goals resonate in the life endeavours of their children, Amen! Farewell to the fallen compatriots, and may the glory of God continue to uphold the testaments of their excellent professional legacies.”
