The Mike Uma-Okoro Basketball Foundation rounded up its one day camp held at the National Stadium, Lagos with over 150 kids in attendance.
According to Mike Uma, the coordinator of the camp told Daily Sunsport that the event is part of his way of giving back to the society for all he had benefitted from the sport of basketball.
Mike Uma, a former player of the Dodan Warriors Basketball Programme said at the end of the camp that the one day programme gave players the opportunity of learning ball handling, dribbling, shooting and more of the basics of the game to benefit the kids.
“This is the way I started learning the art of basketball and having played abroad for several years it is only pertinent that I impact the same knowledge to the young players of tomorrow. Talent and achievement is nothing until we teach the younger generation so that they can be better than us,” he stated.
He admitted that he had had fun working with the players and commended other coaches that worked tirelessly to ensure that the camp was a huge success. “What we’ve done here today is about the young players who needs our confidence to excel. Because I appreciate what I had benefitted from in the past, hence the need to let others learn too.”
