The chairman of Udi Local Government Area in Enugu State, Engr. Hyginus Agu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the growth of the creative industry at the grassroots level, particularly within the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Udi Zone.
Agu made this known during a recent engagement with members of the guild, where he provided them with a conducive office space to enhance their activities and operations within the council area.
He also pledged to collaborate with the AGN in attracting film productions to Udi, a move that is expected to boost local economic development and showcase the area’s cultural and tourism potential.
In addition, the council chairman promised to initiate training programmes for youths across the 20 wards in the local government area, focusing on key areas of filmmaking such as production, cinematography, costume design, and props. The initiative, according to him, is aimed at empowering young people with practical skills and creating employment opportunities within the creative sector.
Members of the guild expressed appreciation for the chairman’s support, particularly his recent visit to their production set, which they described as a morale booster.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the coordinator of AGN in Udi zone, Comrade Kingsley Agu, commended the chairman for his commitment and expressed optimism about the positive impact of the proposed partnership.
“We sincerely appreciate Hon. Engr. Hyginus Agu for his support and the promises he has made towards the development of the creative industry in Udi. We look forward to sustained collaboration and greater impact in the lives of youths across the local government,” he said.
