Former governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswam has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Benue North East Senatorial primary election conducted across nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the district.
The LGAs are Ukum, Logo, Katsina-Ala, Kwande Ushongo, Vandeikya and Konshisha.
Suswam polled 131,083 votes to defeat his other six opponents including his closest rival, Cephas Tushima who polled 4424 and the incumbent Senator Emmanuel Udende who got a total number of 1,364 votes.
In Benue North West, the incumbent Senator from the District, Senator Titus Zam has lost his ticket for reelection in the just concluded primaries.

The Returning Officer for the election, in the, Chief John Ihembe said the election was conducted across seven Local Government Areas including Buruku, Gwer East, Gwer West, Guma, Gboko, Tarka, and Makurdi.
In the keenly contested exercise in Zone B, the husband of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and retired Custom Officer, Benjamin Aber won the election with 93,412 to floor the incumbent, Titus Zam, who polled 2,763 votes.
Announcing the results at the APC Secretariat in Makurdi on Tuesday, the Chairman, National Assembly Primary Election Committee, Sabiu Saidu said the election was peaceful, free and fair.
Saidu declared Mr Gabriel Suswam and Mr. Benjamin Aber, the winner of the election having polled the highest number of votes.
