Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have recorded fresh operational successes with the arrest of a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State, the destruction of three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Zamfara State, and the recovery of 73 livestock allegedly rustled by terrorists.
On October 8, 2026, troops of Sector 1, acting on credible human intelligence, arrested one Yusuf Adamu at Kuyello in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, over his alleged links to terrorists.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspect admitted to involvement in terrorist activities, including recording a video of a female kidnap victim who was allegedly sexually assaulted by terrorists. The video was used to facilitate a ransom demand.
He further alleged that the victim was killed after the ransom was delivered and that he received ₦50,000 for his role in the operation.
Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the alleged principal suspect, Yusuf Iliya Sani, and other suspected collaborators.
In a related development, troops of Sector 2, working in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, conducted a joint operation along the Magami–Dansadau road in Zamfara State on the same day.
During the operation, the security personnel located and successfully destroyed three improvised explosive devices allegedly planted by terrorists.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, OPFY, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the successful clearance operation has attracted positive reactions from residents and road users, who are expected to benefit from improved security and freedom of movement along the route.
Also on October 8, troops of Sector 2, acting on intelligence about the movement of terrorists with rustled livestock between Kombo and Gurusu villages in Zamfara State, swiftly deployed to the area and engaged the suspected terrorists.
The troops’ superior firepower reportedly forced the terrorists to flee, abandoning the animals.
The recovered livestock comprised 14 camels, 19 cows and 40 sheep.
