Football trade specialist Fabrizio Romano has stated that Marcos Alonso, a former Chelsea and Barcelona defender, would ‘love’ to join Manchester United this summer.

Last month, Alonso was linked with a transfer to Manchester United, with manager Erik ten Hag looking for a left-back to replace injury-prone Luke Shaw.

Speaking about Alonso, Romano told GiveMeSport: “Marcos Alonso would love to go to Manchester United.

“He has been offered to Manchester United in recent weeks, but there is nothing really concrete or advanced into it so far.

“I think Manchester United will take some time before deciding who the player they really want to cover that position is, and will save their budget, save their money, and put their effort into a deal for the midfield.”

However, Manchester United will face Fulham in their Premier League opener for the season on Friday night.
