Traders at the Ariaria International Market Aba, Abia State have lauded Governor Alex Otti for the State Government’s remodeling of the market to meet international standard.
Speaking in Aba, remodelling work sub committee Chairman and treasurer of the Ariaria International Market traders association, Hyacinth Ositadinma Nnabude said the remodeling will equally make the market conducive for traders to carry out their businesses without fear of been overrun by flood.
Nnabude disclosed that with the current arrangements reached between the committee comprising the state government, the traders and the developer, no trader will loose his shop as they have the right of first refusal.
A member of the committee, Prince Stanley Obazuo Meshach, commended the state government and the developer for their seriousness in remodelling market, noting that the challenges they go through daily in carrying out their businesses will soon be over.
He called on those who are still working against the development of the market to join hands with them to achieve the remodelling of the market.
Other traders who spoke to journalists including Hon. Uche Ikechi, Chief Eberechi Martin Maduka, Comrade Uchenna Echeka and Mr. Uchenna Onyejiemeli all bemoaned the current bad state of the market and expressed optimism the remodeling will remedy the situation.
The developer and Managing Director of Checkbest International Limited, Mr. Chiedozie Njoku disclosed that part of the agreement entered into with the state government was to provide alternative trading places for traders where the traders would continue doing their businesses while the remodelling process is been done.
