Ambassador Henry John Omaku has lauded President Bola Tinubu for approving the takeover of the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, by the Federal Government, establishing it as the University Teaching Hospital in Nasarawa State.

Speaking in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital yesterday, the immediate past Nigerian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, described the approval as a significant development that would have a direct and positive impact on the lives of the people. He emphasised the importance of patience as the administration works towards fulfilling its broader vision.

“The government of President Bola Tinubu is only a year old, and we need to be more patient and allow the government to actualise its vision.

“The President has already demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of the citizens by increasing the minimum wage after engaging in constructive dialogue with the Nigeria Labour Congress. This is, without a doubt, a significant achievement and a testament to his willingness to listen and work collaboratively,” Omaku stated.

The diplomat, who also holds the title of Giwan Doma, further highlighted the administration’s efforts in launching social welfare intervention schemes, such as cash transfers, a consumer credit scheme, and the N110 billion National Youth Investment Fund. These initiatives, he noted, were designed to alleviate the economic challenges faced by Nigerians.

“This administration has made it possible for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access loans and complete their university education.

“This is a groundbreaking initiative, unprecedented in our nation’s history,” he added.

He also commended the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, for his developmental strides, including the construction of an overhead bridge and underpass in Lafia, building of an ultramodern state secretariat, dualisation of the Shendam/Government House Road, and the construction of intra-city roads.

“These are legacy projects that generations to come will live to appreciate. Your Excellency, posterity will be kind to you,” he remarked.

Omaku also praised Abubakar Nalarab representing Awe, Doma, and Keana in the House of Representatives  for his role in securing the award for the construction of the Lafia-Doma-Rafin Gabas, Nasarawa-Orozo, and Karshi-FCT Roads, worth N5.2 billion in the 2024 supplementary budget.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu Ogah Onawo, for his tireless efforts in realising this crucial project.
