Tinubu, Yusuf mourn as Jigawa gov loses mother, son in 36 hours

The people of Jigawa State have been thrown into a state of grief as a result of the death of the son of the Governor, Abdulmahab Umar Namadi

A statement by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, yesterday, said the late Abdulwahab died at the age of 24 in a motor crash along Dutse – Kafin Hausa Road.

The Islamic funeral rites were held in Kafin-Hausa town yesterday.

The governor had earlier lost his mother, Maryam Namadi Umar, in the early hours of Wednesday.

Hajiya Maryam, revered figure and matriarch of the Namadi family, was laid to rest in her hometown of Kafin Hausa, in accordance with Islamic rites.

Her death has left a profound impact on her family and the community she served throughout her life.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf have condoled with Governor Namadi.

According to a statement issued by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a message of sympathy to Governor Namadi and his family, President Tinubu extolled the virtues of Hajiya Maryam, highlighting her dedication to community service and philanthropy.

He noted that her efforts had significantly contributed to the welfare of many in her community, and he encouraged the family to continue her legacy by engaging in charitable activities that reflect her spirit of giving.

“While we mourn the loss of Hajiya Maryam, let us also celebrate her life and the enduring good name she has left behind,” President Tinubu stated.

“I urge you to find solace in the memories of her kindness and generosity. Immortalizing her legacy through continued acts of service will ensure that her spirit lives on.”

In another story statement, Governor Yusuf, through his spokesperson Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa described the loss as a tremendous tragedy, not only for the Namadi family but for Jigawa State and the entire region.

He commended the late Abdulwahab Namadi for his dedication to the progress and development of his community, describing him as a young man with a bright future.

Yusuf offered prayers for Allah’s mercy on the deceased and strength for the bereaved family to endure this painful loss.

“This is a deeply sorrowful moment for Jigawa State. I pray that Almighty Allah grants Abdulwahab eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus and comforts the Namadi family and the people of Jigawa during this trying period,” Yusuf said.
