In response to the escalating gas prices impacting the nation’s impoverished populace, Kassim Muhammed Kassim, special sdviser, Political Affairs to Governor Sule of Nasarawa State, has called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action.
Kassim in a statement, yesterday, emphasised the detrimental effects of elevated gas costs on both transportation and commodity prices, which disproportionately burden the most vulnerable segments of the society.
Kassim underscored the interconnectedness of gas prices with the economy, citing the pivotal role of gas in transportation and production processes.
He said: “Reducing gas prices is even more crucial for the poorest individuals compared to reducing the price of petroleum. Only the wealthy complain about the increasing prices at petrol stations, while the poor suffer from the increasing prices of goods on a daily basis.”
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Kassim urged the president to heed the plight of the masses and initiate measures to alleviate their economic strain.
“I urge the president to listen to the cry of the masses and take action, please,” he said, emphasising the imperative for proactive governmental intervention.
Expressing unwavering support for the administration, Kassim emphasised the responsibility of party members to provide constructive suggestions and foster unity in advancing national interests.
“As members of our great party, it is our duty to provide suggestions and advice when necessary. We must support the president by maintaining peaceful co-existence with one another, allowing him to focus on activities that will improve our current situation in the country,” he said.
Kassim reiterated his commitment to the nation’s prosperity and unwavering support for the president’s endeavours.
“I offer my support as a lover of our beloved country and a fervent supporter of Mr. President,” he said, echoing the sentiments of many Nigerians eagerly awaiting solutions to the prevailing economic challenges.
