Tinubu recommits to completing inherited projects, commissions VP’s official residence

From Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to completing inherited projects, citing the official residence of the vice president as a prime example.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Abuja, President Tinubu stressed the importance of seeing projects through to completion, rather than abandoning them after significant expenditures. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu underscored that the provision of a suitable residence for the number two citizen is not only a matter of convenience but also a symbol of respect for the office and the individual who occupies it.

According to a statement issued by the Vice President’s spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, he praised the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, for his dedication and leadership in completing the project, which was initially awarded in 2010 but abandoned in 2015.

The president expressed gratitude to the FCT administration for taking up the responsibility and ensuring the project’s completion to avoid wastage of taxpayers’ money. He commended Wike for his achievements, commitment, and loyalty, stating that the minister’s actions are a testament to what a public officer should be.

The commissioning of the vice president’s official residence marks the ninth project completed by the FCT administration under Wike’s leadership. The president applauded the minister’s dynamic and focused approach, citing his dedication to duty as a shining example of effective governance. In his remarks, Wike commended President Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to completing abandoned projects across the nation. He recounted the project’s tumultuous journey, highlighting the challenges faced and the eventual success achieved under the current administration.
