The Oyo State chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement has intensified its grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, following the donation of 32 campaign vehicles by Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.
The vehicles were unveiled during the inauguration of the movement’s Oyo State chapter at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, formerly known as Liberty Stadium, in Ibadan.
The Oyo State Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement and Deputy Director of Grassroots Engagement and Mobilisation of the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Akinola Kazeem, expressed confidence that the state would deliver more votes for Tinubu in 2027 than it did in the 2023 presidential election.
Kazeem urged members of the movement and APC supporters to intensify grassroots engagement and mobilisation efforts to achieve the target.
“Oyo State gave President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the highest vote in the South-West in 2023. We will give the President the highest vote in Nigeria in 2027. Let us work hard to achieve this,” he said.
He disclosed that the 32 vehicles were equipped with sound systems, two large campaign stickers each and generators to facilitate the movement’s door-to-door campaign activities.
Also speaking at the rally, Chief Kestin Pondi, who represented Tompolo, said the vehicles were donated to strengthen the movement’s mobilisation activities and facilitate voter engagement across Oyo State.
The donation is expected to provide logistical support for the group as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At the event, the APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, pledged to grant autonomy to local governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) from May 29, 2027, if elected governor.
Alli’s pledge placed local government autonomy among the major governance issues discussed at the gathering.
Other dignitaries at the event included Sunday Adekanbi Asuku, coordinator of the movement; Dr Joshua Oyebanji, APC Central Senatorial Chairman; Hon. Yemi Aderibigbe; and Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete.
Also in attendance were some APC House of Representatives candidates, including Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe of Oluyole Federal Constituency and Hon. Folake Oshinowo-Olunloyo of Ibadan South-West/North-West Federal Constituency, alongside other party leaders and supporters.
The inauguration and donation of the vehicles form part of the movement’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, as it seeks to expand its grassroots presence and coordinate door-to-door campaigns in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid and other APC candidates in Oyo State.
The mobilisation drive comes amid broader political engagements by the Presidential Campaign Council, led by its Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, with traditional institutions in the state.
The council’s visits to the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Alaafin of Oyo were also part of its engagements with traditional rulers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
