Pentecostal Bishop, Julius Akaraonye, has urged the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to do everything within his power to unite Nigeria, saying the current division in the country does not do any good.
Akaraonye, general overseer of the Rock Christian Mission, based in Lagos, said the country was in dire need of a leader who would see everybody as one and work tirelessly to unite the country.
Congratulating Tinubu for his election victory, the cleric lamented that Nigeria has been at a crossroads, a situation he said was brought about by years of bad leadership.
He said: “Tinubu coming at this time must do everything in his power to unite our dear country. The current division in the country has inhibited development and retarded the nation. God has brought Tinubu for a purpose. He must not listen to anybody telling him to ignore any section of the country.”
He charged Nigerians to put the poignant experiences of past elections behind them and work for the progress and unity of the country.
The cleric also charged Tinubu to develop an economic blueprint that would bring the country out of the current economic mess. “Nigerians are suffering. People can hardly feed three times a day.
The value of naira is nothing to write home about. Standard of living is very low and the life expectancy in Nigeria is at its lowest ebb.
I don’t know how he wants to do it but he must do something about the economy to save Nigerians from the biting economic hardship,” he said.
Akaraonye equally reminded Tinubu to do something about unemployment, particularly the youth unemployment which has led to the exodus of hundreds of young Nigerians to foreign countries in search of greener pastures.
“He must provide jobs for the teeming unemployed youths to halt the current mass migration of Nigerians to Europe and America, where they engage in all kinds of menial jobs,” he said.
