From Desmond Mgboh, Kano
Former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to redouble his efforts in the fight against insecurity and banditry across the country.
Addressing a gathering in Kano, yesterday, he observed that the Tinubu’s administration seemed to lack the political will to tackle the current spate of insecurity crisis.
He remarked that many Nigerians were being killed and the perpetrators getting away with their atrocities. “The government must apologise to Nigerians for its laxity in the fight against insecurity.”

Kwankwaso argued that the Nigerian military remained one of the most gallant, saying they have successfully fought in several global wars, like Darfur, Liberia and many other places. However, the government is not doing what it is supposed to do to enable them fight gallantly.
“When I was Defence minister, I knew the strength of the Nigerian military. They are courageous. We need some semblance of political will to make them do the needful. Historically, the Nigerian military was the best that served across the globe and not only did well but came out with flying colors as the best. President Tinubu should rise to the occasion and equip them with all they require to change the narrative.”
He said if he became president of the nation in 2027, he would ensure recruitment of over one million military personnel.
