President Bola Tinubu has consoled with the family, colleagues, and fans of ace Kannywood actress, Saratu Gidado, who passed away on Tuesday morning in Kano.
President Tinubu, in a statement, described the passing of the 56-year-old movie star as saddening, not only to those mourning but also to the nation, which she honoured through her talent as a thespian.
He said beyond the vacuum her demise has created in the flourishing entertainment industry, Gidado’s humanitarian pursuits will also be sorely missed.
The President also sends his commiserations to the Kano State Government and to all those impacted by Gidado’s passing while praying for Allah’s mercy on her soul.
In his reaction, Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, extended his condolences to the family and members of the Hausa film industry.
He reminisced on her portrayals of both antagonistic and nurturing characters, which earned her acclaim within Arewa households.
He said that a majority of her cinematic works exemplified values of discipline, tenacity, and ethical standards essential for socio and national advancement.
He urged all stakeholders in the Hausa film industry to emulate the late Saratu Gidado’s virtues of fostering national unity, and advocating for religious and cultural harmony to promote peace and tranquility in Kano, Northern Nigeria and beyond.
The governor beseeched Allah to grant the family and companions of Daso the strength to endure this loss.
