President Bola Tinubu has congratulated players of Nigerian descent who starred in the Seattle Seahawks’ dominant 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, securing the franchise’s second Lombardi Trophy.

In a statement issued by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the Seahawks’ lineup, spotlighting quarterback Jalen Oluwaseun Milroe, defensive standout Nick Emmanwori, veteran linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, linebacker Boye Maye, and offensive lineman Olu Oluwatimi for their pivotal roles. He also extended kudos to Michael Onwenu, a dominant offensive lineman who suited up for the losing Patriots.

“These players and their accomplishments affirm Nigerians’ global reputation for excellence and talent,” Tinubu said, commending them for the “pride and honour that they have brought to their country of descent.”

The president singled out Emmanwori, Nwosu, and Maye, who celebrated by raising Nigeria’s flag after the win. “I congratulate them on this remarkable achievement,” the statement quoted Tinubu as saying. He wished all the athletes “continued success and more victories in their respective careers.”
