President Bola Tinubu and the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) have condoled with Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the death of his mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda.

President Tinubu, in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, described her as “a woman of virtue who lived a life dedicated to faith, service, and the uplifting of her community,” he urged the APC Chairman to find solace in the belief that her passing was the will of Almighty God.

The President said: “I enjoin Prof. Yilwatda to accept her death as the will of Almighty God and be consoled by the life of purpose his mother lived.”

He further prayed for the repose of her soul and appealed to God to grant strength to Professor Yilwatda, his family, and all those mourning the loss of Mama Lydia Yilwatda.

In its reaction, NSGF through its chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, described the passing of the octogenarian as a painful loss not only to her family but also to the wider community.

Governor Yahaya paid tribute to Mama Lydia, describing her as a devout Christian, devoted family matriarch and respected community leader who lived a life of service, humility, and compassion.

“The death of a mother, regardless of age, is always profoundly difficult, given the irreplaceable role she plays in offering prayers, wisdom, and emotional strength to her children,” the governor noted in a statement issued by his senior media aide, Ismail Uba Misilli.

He stressed that the loss was particularly painful for Professor Yilwatda, who recently assumed the demanding role of APC National Chairman, a position where motherly counsel and prayers would have been most needed.

On behalf of the forum, Governor Yahaya prayed for the peaceful repose of Mama Lydia’s soul and asked God to grant comfort and strength to Professor Yilwatda and the entire family in their period of mourning.
