President Bola Tinubu has commiserated with traders and the people of Kano State over a devastating fire that ravaged the Singer Market over the weekend.

The inferno broke out Saturday evening and raged until Sunday morning, wreaking havoc on the key food market and destroying shops stocked with goods.

Tinubu, who reached out directly to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for a situation report, described the blaze as “tragic.” He expressed particular alarm that it occurred less than two weeks after another fire gutted dozens of shops at the same venue.

In a statement by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President directed a “comprehensive investigation into the causes of the market fires, which often leave traders in despair.”
