President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council meeting, swore in eight new Federal Permanent Secretaries.
The Permanent Secretaries were appointed last month to fill in existing and impending vacancies in some states and geo-political zones in the top administrative cadre of the Civil Service of the Federation.
The appointees emerged after a diligent selection process by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. Comprising a written ICT tests.
The swearing-in was done in two batches of four each.
Briefing State House Correspondents at the end of the meeting, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the President charged the newly sworn-in permanent secretaries with the responsibility of ensuring that the ideals to which the civil service in the country is known for are upheld to the letter.
The appointees are Dr. Emanso Umobong Okop – Akwa-Ibom, Obi Emeka Vitalis – Anambra, Fatima Mahmood Sugra Tabi’a – Bauchi and Danjuma Mohammed Sanusi – Jigawa.
Others are Olusanya Olubunmi – Ondo, Dr. Keshinro Maryam Ismaila – Zamfara, Akujobi Chinyere Ijeoma (South-East) and Isokpunwu Christopher Osaruwanmwen (South-South).
Meanwhile, the Council congratulated President Tinubu for his re-election as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Authority of Heads of State and Government for another one-year term.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume had earlier noted, “West African leaders see President Tinubu as a dedicated leader committed to Nigeria’s and Africa’s growth, leading to his re-election.”
He said council members and Nigerians at large were proud of President Tinubu noting that he will no doubt deliver on his assignment.
He said the re-election was an honour to Nigeria.
The minister of information, on his part, said President Tinubu’s re-election is a testament to the kind of respect they have for the President and Nigeria.
He said council members assured the president of their support in the discharge of not just his Renewed Hope Agenda but also the larger assignment that he has to carry on with the task of uniting and promoting the interest of the subregion.
