President Bola Tinubu has joined Nigerians nationwide in celebrating the 99th birthday of Alhaji Ashafa Ajibola Erogbogbo, the father of Chairman of the Nigeria Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, lauding him as a paragon of discipline, integrity, and lifelong service.

In statement issued by Special Adviser to Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President expressed warm felicitations to the nonagenarian, whose life and career have been marked by unwavering dedication and exemplary leadership. “As you turn 99, I join family, friends, and well-wishers across the nation in celebrating your life. I pray that you continue to enjoy good health and peace in the company of your loved ones,” he stated.

Erogbogbo’s illustrious career began at the Government Printing Press in Lagos before he transitioned to the Nigerian Customs Service.

In 1954, he joined Shell Company of Nigeria Limited, marking the start of a distinguished professional journey. His diligence quickly elevated him through the ranks, serving as Aviation Supervisor and later as District Manager across Kano, Kaduna, and Katsina. His leadership qualities shone brightly as Aviation Superintendent at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

The President stated that Erogbogbo, as the father of the Chairman of NIDCOM, has seen his daughter’s contributions to Lagos State and Nigeria reflect the same values of service and purpose that he instilled in her.

“I thank Almighty Allah for granting you long life and being alive to witness the achievements of your children and grandchildren,” President Tinubu added, expressing hope that Alhaji Erogbogbo would cross the centennial mark in good health and sound mind.
