Three American service members were killed and five more were seriously injured in the first casualties of the ongoing American operations against Iran, according to a report from the U.S. military.
The announcement of the casualties came on the second day of U.S. and Israeli strikes against Iran, which have sparked a fresh, unpredictable conflict in the Middle East and already resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
According to a statement sent by the U.S. military’s Central Command on Sunday, American soldiers also sustained other, less significant injuries in the ongoing Iran conflict.

In a statement on X, Central Command said: “Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions – and are in the process of being returned to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing.”
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have fired drones and missiles around the Middle East, but it declined to provide details on how the U.S. personnel were killed and injured.
Iran claimed to have used four ballistic missiles to target the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier on Sunday morning, according to state media. According to Central Command, Iran’s rockets did not approach and the ship remained unharmed.
