The true beauty of a woman – Kaffy’s 2025 collection

What makes a woman beautiful?

Many struggle to answer this question, and several debates have been held on the subject matter. While some argue that a woman’s true beauty lies in her looks, her body size and skin tone, others propose that a woman with a good character is the true definition of beauty. The truth is, the question above is really a tough one.

A woman with flawless looks would be considered attractive at first glance. However, if her attitude is displeasing, she would become less appealing to an admirer. So, both outward and inward appearance do matter. And one thing that elevates a woman’s outer beauty is her clothing.

A woman’s outfit is not ‘just a dress’; it’s her crown.

It is a piece of clothing that defines who she is. This is why most female clothes are typically complex and out of the ordinary. It is not just for the stares and quiet applause; it is mainly for the sake of the reputation of the wearer. Most times, people are judged by their dressing, and it is a more common occurrence with the female gender. Fashion designers who cater for the needs of women always bear these facts in mind when they create designs and produce clothes. Among such exceptional designers who produce outfits that elevate the true beauty of women is Kafayat Damilola Saliu.

Kafayat is the CEO of Kaffy, a Nigerian fashion brand famous for its unique collections. Each piece crafted by the brand is made from quality fabrics that are comfortable on the skin and durable for long-term use. In this blog post, we will be reviewing Kaffy’s 2025 collection. Without mincing words, we aim to give every fashion enthusiast reading this a thorough critique of the outfits released by the brand some months ago. Let’s get right into it, shall we?

Here’s the first piece.

The white and black striped fabric is the striking feature of this dress. It resonates with the brand Kaffy and its African origin. It also looks like a zebra print. At first glance, you can tell that Kafayat really outdid herself with this piece. It is a phenomenal gown that could be worn for evening events, and it also deserves a place at runway events.

The collar band elongates the wearer’s neck and highlights the shoulders. It is a very comfortable neckline that is most suitable for cold seasons. The long sleeves of this dress are exceptional. It covers the wearer’s hands and is a subtle fashion concept that engages admirers with its uncommon length. Although the sleeves shield the wearer’s hands from harsh weather conditions, they could also be the reason why potential customers give the outfit a second thought. The dramatic sleeves could easily pick up dirt because of their exaggerated length, and can be a bit restrictive if worn for a dinner event.

An invisible zipper was also used for this piece, and the tailoring was executed perfectly. The second engaging feature of this piece lies in the lower region. From the waist downwards, the material flows freely, forming a little train around the model’s feet. The material is cut loosely, and it allows easy movement and maximum comfort for the wearer.

At the sides, the fabric is sewn to form an open, wavy seam that also features a black silk material. The length of the gown may not appeal to every woman because it makes this piece high-maintenance. However, it is the ‘must-have dress’ every fashion-conscious lady would desire to purchase for special occasions. Kaffy deserves a ten out of ten for this dress.

Let’s review the second piece.

The colour scheme is the engaging feature of this dress. At the right bust area, two colourful cotton fabrics are creatively used to construct a beautiful floral design. The first material used is black cotton fabric, while the second is a peach dobby material. The peach dobby weave has tiny dots all over it that add extra detail to the fabric. The floral design is very pretty, and it is a feminine design that elevated the gown. However, a smaller design would serve a wider audience, particularly minimalistic dressers.

The spaghetti strap reveals the wearer’s arms and makes this piece most suitable for summer seasons. A shawl can also be styled with this gown during cold weather conditions. Or a short jacket can be paired with women who don’t like to reveal their arms. This piece creates room for multiple styling options. The neckline is a semi-sweetheart that emphasises the bust line. It is a modest style that doesn’t reveal the cleavage.

An invisible zipper is used at the back to give the gown a tight fit. This design is most suitable for women with smaller busts and won’t be modest for women with larger busts. From the waist downward, this piece takes a different turn. The skirt area has a straight cut, but at the hip area, the fabric is manipulated to form tiny pleats that exaggerate the hips.

This pleat design at the sides is a creative concept that is currently in vogue. However, the execution of this style was not done well. From the rear view, the middle section of the gown appears unlevelled. An equal length of the middle section with the pleated sides would create a more visually appealing design.

The asymmetrical cuts leave this piece with an awkward look. For now, this dress can have a seven out of ten also. However, if the corrections listed above are applied, this design would steal the heart of every woman and possibly even challenge current fashion trends.

Now, let’s review the final piece for this collection.

This piece is made from two unique materials. The first fabric is a luxurious plain navy-blue cotton fibre, while the other material is silver chiffon fabric with light blue pattern designs. The colour scheme creates room for styling with statement accessories. Stilettos would highlight the wearer’s feet and elevate the overall look, while flat shoes could be worn for semi-formal occasions.

One of the engaging features of this piece is the bold bow positioned on the blouse. It is a creative use of the beautiful glossy fabric. The bow design also adds a feminine touch to the outfit.

The bow design makes a statement that screams, fashion at its peak.’ The tails of the bow are large and expressive, with one stopping at the waist region and the other at the hip area. The bow is an artistic concept that adds drama to the dress, but the positioning is a bit too rigid. Placing the bow a bit lower would have been a much better design. Also, the collar neckline is too big. The model looks very uncomfortable in the outfit because of the neckline. A much smaller collar would make the wearer more comfortable in this piece. It would also appeal to a wider audience, particularly women with broader necks.

The chiffon fabric flows to the shoulders, where the sleeve head is joined to the armhole, and it creates a slightly elevated contour. The slightly puffed shoulder style is commonly used for corporate outfits to boost the wearer’s confidence. The sleeves have a loose fit and stop right after the wrist. An invisible zip joins the upper bodice of the gown, and it was tailored flawlessly.

At the anterior view, the front of the gown is cut to showcase a minimalistic design that reveals the second fabric. The gown stops mid-thigh and is the perfect length for petite women. However, the length is not too appealing and can be considered inappropriate for a formal occasion. A blue zip is centred at the rear view of the lower bodice of the gown. This design makes this piece look like a two-piece, but it is not. Overall, this outfit has seven out of ten.

Wow! Just wow! The first dress stands as the banger of Kaffy’s 2025 collection. Yes, you read that right. It is the dress that was made to blow away the minds of onlookers. Not only does it look visually appealing, but it also fulfils the vision of the brand.

Kaffy designs are said to be made to enter a room with presence and live comfortably on the body. And that is exactly what the third piece accomplishes. The other two dresses aren’t too far away from the first, either. They both have unique features that blend both elegance and sophistication.

The three dresses showcase the craftsmanship of the masterminds at work in Kaffy’s studio. Each dress elevates the true beauty of a woman, which lies both within and outside her. We can’t wait for the next collection, and we hope that our review helps Kaffy and other emerging fashion brands push beyond their limits to produce more extraordinary pieces.
