The Founder of The New Seraph, Iya Aladura General, Dr. Oluwaseye Yomi-Sholoye, has called for greater investment in youth empowerment and unity in the body of Christ as the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) movement marked its 100th anniversary with a Centenary Thanksgiving Service on Sunday in Lagos.
Speaking at the service held at Faith Mission C&S Church Inc. Headquarters, Yomi-Sholoye said the future of the church remains bright, provided members stay grounded in the word of God and embrace love, unity, and hard work.
“We only need to invest more in our youth, in the church, and in the world. The future is about greater love, greater unity, and greater oneness,” she said.
She urged young people in the denomination to shun shortcuts to success, embrace education, and remain hardworking. “The youths should be hardworking and smart-working and not want to be on the fast lane. There is reward in education, in diligence, and in doing things gradually,” she added.
Looking ahead, Yomi-Sholoye said The New Seraph would remain committed to its core values of evangelism and true Christlike living, while encouraging members to be worthy ambassadors of the global C&S brand.
She noted that in the past 100 years, the church had evolved from its small beginnings in Ikare, Ondo State, into a global denomination with strong presence in America, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
The spiritual leader emphasized that the centenary celebration, which was jointly organised with the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim (ESOCS) and other sister churches, reflected the church’s commitment to love and unity.
“We could have celebrated the centenary alone, but we partnered in love with other churches to show unity and oneness. We are doing what we preach,” she said.
Also speaking at the thanksgiving, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos State Chapter, Rev. Stephen Adegbite, described The New Seraph as a movement of “peace, grace, love, settlement, generosity, and plenty.”
Quoting Amos 3:3, Adegbite expressed his strong bond with Yomi-Sholoye and affirmed his continuous support for the movement. “Every church is a praying church, but for a church to stand after 100 years, it must believe in God, prayer, worship, and winning souls. That is why the C&S is still existing today. We can only wish them more years of greatness in the land of the living,” he said.
The Centenary Thanksgiving Service was the climax of week-long activities marking the 100th anniversary of the C&S Church, drawing congregants, dignitaries, and church leaders from across Nigeria and beyond.
