Nigerian makeup artist and creative entrepreneur Tesglam has officially received her Guinness World Records plaque and medal following the confirmation of her record-breaking 146-hour continuous makeup application.
The feat, which took place at Landmark, Lagos, saw Tesglam applying makeup non-stop across six days, working on over 200 faces. The marathon, described by the artist as a test of “discipline, faith, and endurance,” drew attention from makeup enthusiasts, creatives, and everyday Nigerians alike.
Speaking on the achievement, Tesglam said: “This record represents discipline, faith, and the power of community. What carried me through wasn’t just skill, but the people who showed up, prayed, checked in, and believed. This belongs to all of us.”
She described the marathon as both physically and mentally demanding, adding that the support she received made the experience possible.
“There were moments when I was exhausted, but knowing that people believed in me kept me going. Every face I worked on reminded me why I started this journey,” Tesglam said.
During the attempt, the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth paid a courtesy visit, offering words of encouragement and later congratulating Tesglam for achieving the confirmed record.
“She has not only represented Lagos with pride but has also inspired young creatives to pursue excellence on a global stage,” the Commissioner said.
Several participants and models who took part in the marathon spoke of their experience with Tesglam. One model, Ifeoma Adeyemi, said: “Watching Tesglam work tirelessly was inspiring. Her focus and dedication were remarkable. It motivated all of us to give our best.”
Another participant, Chinedu Okafor, highlighted the atmosphere during the marathon.
“It was more than a record attempt; it was a community experience. People cheered, shared messages of support online, and it felt like everyone was part of her journey.”
The Guinness World Records verification process, which took several weeks, culminated in the official plaque unveiling, marking the close of the record validation phase. Tesglam said this moment was particularly meaningful: “Holding the plaque, seeing it confirmed. it’s a tangible reminder that persistence pays off and that dreams nurtured with community support are achievable.”
Tesglam’s work spans fashion, editorial, commercial campaigns, and creative direction. She has stated that her next steps include expanding her creative footprint through education, community-driven beauty experiences, and long-term collaborations that will contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s beauty and creative industries.
“I hope to mentor young creatives and create platforms where talent can thrive without borders,” she said.
With Lagos as the backdrop for this historic achievement, Tesglam’s journey is being celebrated not only as a personal triumph but as a milestone for the Nigerian creative industry.
