Palpable tension has gripped Imegun community, Itele, in Ijebu East, Ogun state over the plan to install a parallel ruler/sovereignty in the neighborhood.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) on Monday, Mr Bayo Awode, the spokesperson of Erugbe family scowled at the unpallatable fiction happening in the community.
Awode critised the action of Oba Muftau Kasali Moyegeso in Itele land, ogun state for installing another ruler in imegun community as against the wish of the ruling family.
He frowned at the monarch installing a stranger as the traditional head of Imegun community, while Mr Suraliu Ismail was consented by Erugbe family to be their ruler(Baale)/sovereign of the community.
“Two rulers cannot operates in one community, there will be breach of accord, thereby, causing community unrest.
“I pledge to Oba Muftai Kasali Moyegeso to desist from such unethical and unscrupulous act perpetrating in the community, ” he said.
He added that Oba Kasali was conscripting Vigelante group of Nigeria(VGN), Nigerian Police and thugs to harras, intimidate and terrotise the community.
Similarly, the Traditional ruler perpetrated his raucous and threat on the 24th and 25th of March 2023 by attacking member of Erugbe and Awode family which one sustained a fracture on his left hand.
Another family member was seriously injured with deep cut on his head which the blood is yet to stop goshing out as at the time of the report despite all effort by medical team.
According to him, Imegun village at Itele was founded at about 200years ago with two ruling family rotating the ridership of the ancient community.
He mentioned the two ruling families as; Erugbe family, the land custodians lineage and Awole family while Shitam family are non-natives of the community but was given a privilege to dwelling in the community base on accommodative nature of our progenitors.
“What amaze the family was that, Oba Muftau Kasali picked and installed someone from the non-native family to be the ruler of Imegun village, in Itele which is uncalled for.
“We are not a bastard in our land, we are the rightful owner of our land, so nobody should refute us our right.
“The monarch is using his wealth, power and position to intimidate us in the without recourse/respect for the rule of law, this act should be discourage and cautioned by the government because, their is no one above the law, ” he said.
Awode alleged that the Traditional ruler, Oba Muftau Kasali and his thugs were on the verge of causing a bloodbath in the community as a result, illegally selling of our lands and chasing away Erugbe family out of the community claiming that ” Oba loni Ile ati Ekun re” (kabiesi owns everything and all the things that is on it)
He aslo alleged that the Traditional ruler, his allies and others falsely claimed/installed a stranger to be the head of the imegun village at Itele and unlawfully evicted lawful occupants from their land with the assistance of hired thugs in the Itele community.
It was also alleged that the community is currently bereft of peace, law, and order as Oba Kasali employed machinery of thugs to evict lawful occupants from their lands.
Mr Suraliu Ismail, the proposed Baale/ruler of imegun village, in Itele, appealed to the good citizens of Nigeria to rescue the community from tyrant oppressor.
“I am the most preferred Baale/ruler that the community crave for but Oba Kasali twatted the community yearnings.
“We want government to wave into this matter happening in our community to profound a lasting solution for peace to restore back into the ancient community, ” he said.
He said that the monarch was using his connection and influence with Nigerian Police to use the court to threaten, humiliate and frightening the family.
“Most of the family have ran out of the community for their dear lives, ” he said.
Ismail called on the police authorities to wade into the matter by refraining Oba Kasali and his accomplices in another forestall any further act capable of disrupting the peace in the Imegun village, in itele community.
He also urged the police to conduct a discreet investigation into the allegations and prosecute the culprits.(NAN).
