The family of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has appealed to the public to disregard rumours and unverified reports surrounding the circumstances of her death, describing the claims circulating online as false and unauthorised.
In a statement posted on Osoba’s official Instagram page on Thursday, the Awonuga/Osoba family expressed sadness over what it called the spread of misinformation during a period of mourning.
The family said the numerous claims making the rounds on social media and blogs about the actress’ death were “false, speculative, and entirely unauthorised.”
“We respectfully urge the public to refrain from sharing or promoting misinformation that only adds to the pain our family is already enduring,” the statement read.
The family also appealed for privacy, asking the public to allow them the space and dignity to grieve without being subjected to unfounded rumours and sensational narratives.
According to the statement, any information the family wishes to make public regarding Osoba’s passing will only be released through its official channels and authorised representatives.
“Should there be any information the family wishes to make public, it will be communicated through our official channels and by authorized representatives only. We ask the public and members of the media to rely solely on those official statements and to disregard all unverified reports,” the family stated.
The statement concluded by thanking friends, colleagues, fans and well-wishers for their prayers, love and support, while urging everyone to honour Temitope Osoba’s memory by respecting the family’s privacy during this difficult time.
