Managing Director and Chief Executive, Sundry Foods Limited, Mr Ebele Enunwa, has attributed the successes recorded by the company over the last 20 years of its operation to teamwork by management and staff driven by a commitment to customer satisfaction amid the nation’s harsh business environment.
Speaking at the company’s 20th anniversary gala night held in Lagos at the weekend, Enunwa said through the highs and lows, challenges and triumphs, the firm had stayed true to its values and vision with an unwavering commitment to excellence.
He cited the COVID-19 pandemic as one of the major storms that would have rocked the vision of the organisation, but it was still able to scale the hurdle due to management’s strong faith in the Nigerian economy.
“We have embraced change and innovation in the spirit of collaboration that defines us as a team. Our success is a testament to the hard work, creativity and resilience of our team that played a part in this incredible journey.
As we look back on our achievements, let us also look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.
“Our 20th anniversary is not just a celebration of the past; it is a reiteration of our commitment to building a future that is bright, sustainable, and filled with promise,” Enunwa said.
He, however, commended all stakeholders, including customers, local vendors and staff for their unwavering support to the company in its remarkable journey, including the board Chairman, Mr Adedotun Sulaiman, who he said had guided the management to do things the right way always.
In his remarks at the occasion, SFL Chairman, Mr Adedotun Sulaimon, said the 20th Anniversary Gala was a night of celebration, reflection and one of immense pride to commemorate and celebrate two decades of growth, innovation and an unwavering commitment to excellence, which have driven the company to become a leader in the Nigerian food services industry.
“Our beginning was humble, to be that one Quick Service Restaurant that dared to challenge the status quo, with a commitment to offering not just food, but a culinary experience. There would be challenges that will test our resolve, moments of uncertainty that will demand courage and opportunities that would require us to think creatively and to act decisively.
He recalled that SFL which began with just one restaurant in Port Harcourt, 20 years ago has now grown to become an integrated food services company, offering a diverse portfolio of products and services across 197 business units in 116 locations across 16 of the 36 states in Nigeria, including Lagos and Abuja.
According to him, its Quick Service Restaurants, called Kilimanjaro, have become a household name, known for quality, consistency, and commitment to customer satisfaction, with other arms of the business setting new standards in the industry due to the hard work and passion of the stakeholders associated with Sundry Foods over the years.
Sulaimon further stated that in addition to its expanded presence across Nigeria, the firm had also deepened its impact on its host communities with each new location not only representing just a business opportunity, but also a commitment to positively contributing to the local economy, creating jobs, and enhancing the quality of life in the communities it serves.
He explained that with its Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability, Sundry Foods believes that with success comes with responsibility, hence its resolve to operate in a way that is not only profitable but also sustainable and socially responsible.
He said: “Our commitment to corporate social responsibility has seen us engage in various initiatives aimed at giving back to the communities that have supported us over the years, including supporting local farmers by sourcing ingredients locally, to reducing our carbon and other harmful environmental footprints; we are committed to making a positive impact.
The next chapter of Sundry Foods will be characterised by continued growth and expansion, new innovations, and an even stronger commitment to our customers and the communities we serve.
We will continue to grow our footprint, explore new markets, and introduce new products and services that meet the changing needs of our customers.
