• Empowers widows with N100,000 grant
The Team Tinubu 2027 Ogun State Chapter marked the 2026 International Widows Day with an outreach in Ifo Local Government Area, recently, where hundreds of widows received food items to support their households amid current economic challenges.
The event was organised to identify with widows and to cushion the effect of rising living costs on vulnerable families. Beneficiaries were given some palliatives and other foodstuffs to add to what they already have at home. Participants expressed gratitude to the group for remembering them in this season.
While the outreach provided immediate relief, it also triggered a life-changing intervention days later.
During the event, an interview with one of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Oluwakemi, was aired on Arise TV. In the interview, the widow lamented the difficulty of feeding her two children and the daily struggles she faces.
The interview caught the attention of John Omotola Soares, former Secretary to the Local Government of Ikoyi/Obalende LCDA, Lagos State. Though he did not attend the Ifo event, he watched the broadcast and contacted the Ogun State leadership of Team Tinubu 2027, expressing his willingness to personally assist Mrs. Oluwakemi.
Following that, the Ogun State Coordinator, Adeshina Arawole, reached out to Mrs. Oluwakemi to inform her that Soares was ready to help.
On Sunday, July 19, a delegation from Team Tinubu 2027 visited Mrs. Oluwakemi at her residence in Ifo. Present at the visit were Adeshina Arawole, Ogun State Coordinator; Kayode Adesola, State Secretary; Alhaji Shoremekun Oladele, Ifo LGA Coordinator and Ifarajimi Oluwabukola, Ikenne LGA Coordinator.
The team presented additional food items for her children. In addition, Mrs. Oluwakemi received a cash grant of N100,000 to start a small-scale business of her choice.
Soares, speaking through the delegation, pledged to support her further to expand the business once he sees her seriousness and commitment with the initial capital. He noted that the gesture was in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the call for well-meaning Nigerians to lift the vulnerable out of poverty.
Mrs. Oluwakemi thanked Team Tinubu 2027 and Soares, saying the support had given her new hope to provide for her children.
Speaking after the visit, the Ogun State Coordinator, Arawole, appreciated the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her consistent motherly advice urging Nigerians to look out for the needy.
“We are inspired by the First Lady’s compassion and her call to service. This is our little way of answering that call in Ogun State,” Arawole stated.
He added that Team Tinubu 2027 Ogun is not stopping at Ifo. The group has already carried out a grant empowerment programme at Ishara Market, Ishara Remo North, and a Children’s Day programme in Ilaro, Yewa South. The team said it is currently moving from local government to local government across the state with humanitarian and empowerment initiatives in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of 2027.
“International Widows Day reminded us that leadership is about service. From food to grants, we will continue to reach the grassroots,” Arawole concluded.
