…As Afri Invoice unveils new plan

Nigerian businesses are facing a growing push to move away from manual invoicing and adopt digital systems as the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) advances electronic invoicing as part of the country’s wider tax administration reforms.

Against this backdrop, Nigerian SaaS fintech platform, Afri Invoice, has introduced a new subscription structure designed to help businesses digitise invoicing, improve transaction records and strengthen their readiness for the evolving tax environment.

The company said the new plans are targeted at businesses at different stages of growth, from freelancers and startups to established companies and large corporate organisations.

The development comes as the NRS’s electronic invoicing framework provides for the creation and submission of electronic invoices, validation by the Service, issuance of a Unique Identifier Number (IRN), secure storage and reporting of e-invoice transactions.

The framework also provides for API-based integration with business systems and technology providers, signalling a broader shift towards technology-driven tax administration.

For businesses, the transition means that invoicing is increasingly becoming more than simply issuing receipts to customers. Proper digital records could become an important part of how businesses manage transactions, payments, reporting and tax compliance.

Afri Invoice’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mark Odenore, said businesses needed practical tools to navigate the transition.

“The transition to digital tax administration requires businesses to also strengthen the way they create, manage and retain transaction records. Our focus is to make that transition more accessible by providing businesses with practical digital invoicing and financial management tools suited to their different stages of growth,” he said.

Under the new structure, Afri Invoice has four categories, Beginners, Starter, Standard and Premium Corporate.

The Beginners plan is targeted at freelancers, startups and emerging businesses seeking to move from manual to digital invoicing.

The Starter plan is designed for growing businesses and offers increased invoicing capacity, data storage, tax tracking, compliance tools and basic reporting.

The Standard plan targets established businesses with regular invoicing needs and includes expanded invoicing capacity, client management, payment monitoring, tax and compliance tracking, reporting, customisable invoice templates and digital document export.

The Premium Corporate plan is designed for larger organisations and high-volume operations requiring multiple users, operations or business entities, alongside advanced reporting and compliance infrastructure.

The company said the new structure was aimed at reducing the barriers preventing businesses from adopting digital tools as Nigeria’s tax and business administration systems become increasingly technology-driven.

The move could be particularly significant for Nigeria’s small and medium-sized businesses, many of which still depend heavily on manual processes to issue invoices, record transactions and monitor payments.

Afri Invoice said businesses should not view electronic invoicing merely as a regulatory requirement or replacement for paper invoices, but as an opportunity to improve financial records, strengthen internal controls and gain better visibility into their operations.

The development also comes under Nigeria’s evolving tax administration framework. The Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025, which commenced on January 1, 2026, identifies facilitating tax compliance as one of the objectives of tax administration.

For businesses, the emerging digital tax environment could therefore make proper record-keeping increasingly important, particularly as tax authorities deploy technology to improve compliance and visibility across economic activities.

Afri Invoice said it would continue developing technology solutions to support Nigerian businesses as they adjust to the country’s changing tax and digital business environment.

Afri Invoice is a Nigerian SaaS fintech platform focused on invoicing, compliance and payment tracking for African businesses. It provides digital tools for entrepreneurs, freelancers and businesses to manage invoices, financial records and related business processes.
