The Lagos State Taskforce has  given a 5-day  eviction notice to residents of Lekki Coastal Road and Marwa Gardens.

Also, the Agency extended the  notice to residents of makeshifts  along the Raii way lines in Fagba, Iju.

The  operation  at Lekki, which was led by Chairman of the Agency, CSP Shola Jejeloye in the early hours of Tuesday, lasted for about five hours.

CSP Jejeloye disclosed that Taskforce had visited the axis times without numbers, but the squatters remained defiant and kept returning after the dust settled.

“We have said it time without numbers that the clearing of the axis would  be a continuous excercise until the State Government commences construction of alternative roads in the area . The exercise is also necessary to frustrate criminal activities in the area.”

Jejeloye appealed to owners of structures erected illegally along that axis to remove them before the 5- day grace given to them by the Government would  expire.

“There are car repair outlets, brothels, viewing centres, and kiosks, all erected illegally and haphazardly along the dedicated routes for the construction of  road and we have served them a  5- day notice to vacate the area or risk having their property brought down by our bulldozers.

“The 5 day notice is a follow up to series of notices and warnings that have been served before now to these squatters.

In a similar development, the Agency  also served removal/eviction notices to kiosk and makeshifts owners  along Fagba Railway crossing .

According to Jejeloye,”the  structures erected there  have no form of approval whatsoever from the State Government, therefore, its our reposibility to ensure that they are removed and Lagosians are allowed to move freely without any obstruction
