The Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited has offered carbon capture as an alternative to pipeline vandalisation in Niger Delta communities.
It stated that carbon capture, including carbon streaming and carbon credit, is a better way for oil communities to make money than pipeline vandalisation, which further degrades the environment.
The Executive Director, Operations and Technical, Tantita Security Services, Captain Warredi Enisuoh, speaking at the pre-summit conference of the first Pan-Ijaw Economic Summit held at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall, Yenagoa, over the weekend, stressed the economic potential of carbon capture to the people.

According to him the infrastructure that would come from the carbon capture industry and the protection of existing infrastructure with the assistance of the government cannot be downplayed.
Enisuoh noted that socioeconomic problems cannot be separated from security issues in the Niger Delta region, stressing that capturing carbon can generate funds for infrastructural and economic development in oil communities and steer the people away from crude oil pipeline destruction which is damaging the environment, creating a reduction in life span and creating a situation whereby the environment is almost becoming inhabitable.
“If they (people) do not pollute the environment any further, these trees can thrive and we would be able to take stock of these trees and generate income from carbon streaming. These companies around the world are willing to partner regions like ours in exchange for green development.
