The Zamfara State Government engaged Swedish leading institutions and development partners to explore collaborations aimed at advancing the state’s digital and economic transformation agenda.

The state delegation, led by Governor Dauda Lawal, held series of high-level engagements focused on attracting partnerships, investments and technical support that will strengthen digital infrastructure, innovation and human capital development in Zamfara State.

The Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA), Dr. Habib Gajam, disclosed that the mission was designed to establish practical partnerships capable of accelerating the state’s digital transformation drive.

He said discussions centred on cybersecurity, secure connectivity, telecommunications infrastructure and strategies for expanding digital access across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.

Mr Gajam said the delegation held talks with the Stockholm International Program for Digitalisation (SPIDER) at Stockholm University, where discussions focused on digital governance, digital inclusion, capacity building and support for the Zamfara Institute of Information Technology (ZIIT).

He said engagements with the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) explored opportunities in applied research, innovation, technology adoption, institutional development and collaborative research initiatives.
The delegation also met with officials of the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS), where discussions centred on regulatory best practices, broadband expansion, digital infrastructure development and universal access initiatives.

He said talks with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) focused on development cooperation, institutional strengthening, digital skills development, youth empowerment and sustainable development programmes.

Mr Gajam noted that the engagements align with Governor Lawal’s vision of placing technology, innovation and human capital development at the heart of Zamfara’s development agenda.
“These engagements reinforce the vision of Governor Dauda Lawal to position technology, innovation and human capital development at the centre of Zamfara State’s transformation agenda,” he said.
“ZITDA remains committed to converting these strategic engagements into practical outcomes that will drive economic growth, digital inclusion and sustainable development across the state,” Gajam said.
