The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ekiti Chapter, has honoured international sports lawyer and sports governance advocate, Adedotun Olusanya, with the “Award of Exemplary Impacts on Sports Development”.
SWAN through its various initiatives, has shown its viability as a champion of sports development in Nigeria known globally for achieving accreditation for Nigeria on international sporting events including the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup. From organizing training workshops and seminars to recognizing excellence in sports journalism, SWAN has consistently demonstrated its dedication to promoting the growth and development of sports in Nigeria including the recognition of eminent personalities like Adedotun Olusanya Esq who massively contribute in achieving the organization’s goals.
Olusanya, a renowned expert in sports law, has made significant contributions to the Nigerian sports community through his engagements with the press and his advocacy for sports governance.
Adedotun Olusanya was commended for being the first lawyer to take up the mantle of educating soccer academics and administrators on FIFA Governance Statutes and Regulations in West Africa, especially Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Liberia and Sierra-Leone.
The award recognizes Olusanya’s tireless efforts in organizing seminars, workshops, and trainings for sports journalists, administrators, and practitioners across different states in Nigeria.

His seminars and workshops have empowered sports journalists and administrators, enhancing their understanding of legal issues in sports. His Legal Theses “Legal Framework of Sports Broadcast Rights in Nigeria (2013)” and
“Beyond Sports Governance: Constructing a Veritable Platform for Transparency and Accountability in FIFA (2016)” respectively are well-known within the West African Sports Community from his trainings delivered to soccer and sport academies in Nigeria and Ghana.
