Workers suspended and dismissed by the administration of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke have trooped out in large numbers to declare their support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of Saturday’s election.
The demonstrators carried placards with various inscriptions, including “OYES for AMBO”, “Sacked health workers for AMBO”, and “Suspended LG workers for AMBO”, among others.
Led by Comrade Tirimisiyu Adekunle, President of the Concerned Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), the group vowed to deliver their votes to the APC.
Speaking on the motivation behind the endorsement, Adekunle stated that the turnout was entirely voluntary, driven by the workers’ confidence in the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
“We can see that people are not forced to come out; they came out because they believe Oyebamiji and the APC can truly guarantee staff welfare.
“The composition of the people here, the majority of them are sacked. The current government cannot tolerate opposition and lives purely on propaganda. That is why we said the Adeleke government must go. We are not thugs.”
Drawing comparisons with the previous administration led by Adegboyega Oyetola, Adekunle noted that former government employees who openly supported the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were never victimised or dismissed.

He contrasted this with the current administration’s handling of perceived political opponents.
“Oyetola has never sacked anybody. But here we are today; if you have a relation in the APC, the current governor does not care,” he remarked. “We have sympathy for this man (Oyebamiji), and we believe in what he can do,” Adekunle noted.
The NULGE leader also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for granting financial autonomy to local governments, describing it as a vital step towards grassroots development and workers’ liberation.
“For the entire grassroots, there will be faster development, and we as staff have our own history and a right to a better life. That is why we said we need freedom, and we can never mortgage our freedom,” Adekunle added.
Accusing the Adeleke administration of political intolerance and unfulfilled promises, Adekunle urged the electorate to look past government propaganda.
“Oyebamiji is eminently qualified to lead us to the promised land. There is an assurance that people are going to be re-engaged in service, and whenever this man promises, he fulfills it. That is why we call him the best Omoluabi of our time. My people, do not have any doubts about Bola Oyebamiji; he has won,” he added.
